History of the Department

Science stream in S.P.P College has started in 2008. Degree (Undergraduate)programme has started in the stream from 2012-2013.The department of Zoology launched its journey in 2012- 2013 as General subject with 20 students and Two faculty members.It obtained approval for introducing Zoology as Honours subject in 2014-2015.There are at present 20seats for Honours students.

• To provide the students with the required quality teaching-learning,educational and infrastructural facilities in order for them to make appropriate recommendations, receive adequate guidance and advance carrier development.These kinds of practical studies can also lead to academic excellence.
• To prepare students to be effective, empathetic,and socially responsible individuals through education and training.

The department has well equipped laboratory cum classroom with the facility of sophisticated instruments and required chemicals to carry out the practical.It has a very good museum,which has a wide collection of specimens of  both non-chordates and chordates species and the students can have a live exposure to specimens throughout their course.All these laboratory and museum aids to all H.S, Degree (Major and General Course )students.The Library of the college serves as an important resource for students as well as for faculty .It has a well furnished reading hall which is well equipped with an adequate  collection of books.The college library has a rich collection of over thousand books   of varying disciplines in Zoology.There is also a separate textbook sections for various departments of college. Apart from the central library, department library is enrinched with some donated books which is easily accessible for departmental students.
