Education

About the Department:

The department of education was established in the year 1970. In the beginning of this department, there was no Honours (Major) course. The major or Honours subject has been introduced in the year 1978 with a limited number of seats. The department of education is running Three years degree course (BA Honours and Non Honours) under Dibrugarh University.The department hold its Major classes in the departmental classroom and classes of the Non Major course held in the general classroom of the college. There is an Educational Association in the department. It organizes popular talks on educational matter to widen the horizon of knowledge among the students. The department publishes one wall magazine namely ‘Shikhadarpan’ on the occasion of Teachers Day in every year. The department has a psychological laboratory to carry out the psychological test and experiments among the Major students.

Mission and Vision of the Department:

  1. To develop an understanding of the basic principles of education
  2. To acquaint with the cultural heritage of India
  3. To understand education as a processes and techniques of scientific measurement of human behavior
  4. To develop critical and analytical abilities among the students to study the educational scenario of the country in its present and future perspectives.
  5. To develop the ability to locate and process information for higher studies in the discipline.
  6. To understand the contribution of the philosophers in the domain of education

FACILITIES:

A. Library: There is a small Library in the department with a 350 books. The books are distributed among the Major students of the department. The books are issued to the students every Monday and Wednesday of the week. Students are allowed to two books at a time and they keep the borrowed books for more than two weeks at most. The borrowed books will have to be returned on Saturday. In the event of the borrowed books being damaged or lost, the borrower will have to pay due compensation. Here is a departmental committee to operate the library. The present committee consists of the following members;

C. Computer with Printer: 

There is two desktop with a Printer in the department which are helpful for recording and storing the different types of data. 

D. Play School:

‘Holy Kids’ a play school was introduced within the college campus in 2013 under the supervision of the Department of Education. The school has adopted a curriculum designed for all round development of children belonging to the age group of two to four years.
