History of the Department: 

Education is a primary necessity for a society. Swahid Peoli Phukan College, Namti is a vast area with its genuine education since 1970. With demand of time the college started science stream in 2012. The Department of Geology started its academic calendar from June 2014 with two pass course students. The department is trying to educate the students in a complete way so that they can compete with the students of other institutions. The Department of Geology also motivates the students to participate in various courses related programmes through which they can develop their personality and help the society in a positive way.

• To provide the students with the required quality teaching-learning, educational and infrastructural facilities in order for them to make appropriate recommendations, receive adequate guidance and advance carrier development. These kinds of practical studies can also lead to academic excellence.

The department has well equipped laboratory cum class room with the facility of sophisticated instruments and required equipments to carry out the practical. It has a very good museum, which has a wide collection of hand specimens of rocks and minerals .All these laboratory and museum aids to all H.S. & Degree (General Course) students. The Library of the college serves as an important resource for students as well as for faculty. It has a well furnished reading hall which is well equipped with an adequate collection of books. The college library has a rich collection of books of varying disciplines in Geology.
