Departmental History
The Department of Mathematics started its journey in 1990 as general subject and marched ahead for pretty long time and obtained approval for introducing Mathematics as Honours subject since July, 2013. At present, this department offers Mathematics at H.S. (Arts/Science) level and also B.A./B.Sc (Major/Non-Major) degree course under Dibrugarh University. It offers both Mathematics and Statistics as allied papers for all above disciplines. The department of Mathematics is one of the important departments of our college. Besides teaching, the department organizes class wise seminar, debate and prepares students for quiz competition and group discussion, so that they can keep pace with the time. It has been the cherished goal of the department to inculcate in the students a desire to excel, to demonstrate originality and to develop a sense of responsibility towards the society. Accordingly, the department continuously reviews and monitors the curriculum of its academic programs. There are two full time teachers in the department. The department has produced innumerable students both Honours and general throughout the years. Many students of the department have established themselves in various sectors and are still associated with the department as alumni. Above all, the faculty members are always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to students within and outside the campus as and when required. Consequently students get through the final examination with flying colours every year and go for further higher studies.
Vision
The department aims at imparting quality mathematics education among the students to achieve higher standards of excellence in its field. It also aims at developing student’s ability to intelligently communicate mathematical results in both written and oral form. The theories and techniques taught in mathematics courses are important in developing, computing, critically thinking, reasoning, problem solving and formulating skills in lifestyle.
Mission
The department of mathematics will offer courses which will ensure that the students develop their skills and contribute to today’s society. Students will be able to formulate strategies for solving problems and acknowledge the importance of being intellectually curious throughout their adult lives. The faculty members will motivate and simulate the students to develop their knowledge in the discipline. In the coming decade, apart from strengthening the existing areas, the department will intends to develop areas related to mathematical aspects of scientific computing in all its manifestations.

Facilities
The department has a library equipped with more than 100 books, journals, magazines etc. It has one desktop computer with printer. One classroom is also attached in our department.
